Proverbs (Part V) Needless bruises

Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self control. (25:28)

It is a trap for a man to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider his vows. (20:25)

... a patient man calms a quarrel. (15:18b)

A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense. (19:11)

Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise. (20:1)

... drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags. (23:21b)

Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? Those who linger over wine... (23:29-30a)

...a man's ways are in full view of Yahweh, and he examines all his paths. (5:21}

My son, keep your father's commands and do not forsake your mother's teaching. Bind them upon your heart forever; fasten them around your neck. When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you. (6:20-22)
